Installation

MyDirect .NET is provided as single setup package that contains all required files and documentation. By default all files are installed in "Program Files\Devart\MyDirect .NET" or "Program Files\Devart\MyDirect .NET2" folder. The setup program also adds the necessary assemblies to the Global Assembly Cache. To install only *.dll files needed to run applications that use MyDirect .NET, you can choose "compact" option in the setup program.

Some files are shared by Devart data providers. These assemblies are copied to the "Program Files\Common Files\Devart\Data Providers\4.0\Net" folder. If you have several Devart data providers, make sure they use same version of the CoreLab.Data.dll assembly.

There are some limitations in Express Editions of Visual Studio .NET. Particularly, the automatic toolbox components registration and DDEX integration are not available. You can, however, install components into toolbox manually as described below. As an exclusion, Visual Web Developer supports DDEX features.

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET

On first Visual Studio .NET IDE startup after successful installation MyDirect .NET components are automatically registered in Toolbox. If auto registration fails, do the following steps to install components manually:

Open VisualStudio.NET and go to Toolbox window;
Add 'MyDirect' tab using right mouse button;
Select Choose Items... from popup menu;
Go to .NET Framework Components tab within opened dialog;
Check the components that begin with "CoreLab";
Press OK button.

Since now MyDirect .NET components are available from toolbox.

Borland Delphi and C#Builder

To register MyDirect .NET components in Delphi or C#Builder Tool Palette follow these steps:

Open Delphi or C#Builder IDE and go to "Tool Palette" window;
Add "MyDirect" category using popup menu;
Select "Installed .NET Components..." from popup menu;
Go to "Installed .NET Components" tab within opened dialog;
Check the components that begin with "CoreLab";
Press OK button.

Since now MyDirect .NET components are available from Tool Palette.
