How the CRLAB Hair Replacement System is made

The process of creating the CRLAB hair prosthesis consists of 39 stages and begins with an exact reproduction of the Client's head, obtained through 3D scanning, and with the precise definition of the area to be filled in.

The base is a biomedical-grade polymer resin membrane, dermatologically tested, onto which we manually graft, one by one, real, completely virgin hair, respecting its natural distribution, inclination and thickness.

The system is applied without shaving any hair underneath, using liquid or solid medical-grade adhesives, FDA certified.

Before application, every Client undergoes an allergy compatibility test with the materials that come into contact with the skin.

We identify and "map out" the area to be filled in. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, we perform a precise digital 3D reading of the client's cranial shape. This process is carried out at all CRLAB Centers around the world.

Thanks to the robotic technologies at our facility in Zola Predosa (Bologna, Italy), we reproduce an exact copy of the client's cranium: the essential base for a truly made-to-measure prosthesis.

To achieve a color that perfectly matches the client's own, we carefully select natural hair until we reach the ideal blend. We use exclusively real, virgin hair, never treated and not decuticled.

The polymer base, made in our laboratories, is enriched with natural pigments until it matches the color of the client's scalp. It is the support onto which we graft the hair, effectively becoming a second scalp.

Grafting is done by hand: the hair is inserted one strand at a time onto the polymer base, following the distribution, inclination, and direction of the client's own hair, for a result indistinguishable from natural hair.

Integration takes place at a CRLAB Center, where we carry out the application and final styling, to give the client a complete, harmonious look.

At all CRLAB Centers it is possible to have the prosthesis checked periodically, to keep it perfect both aesthetically and functionally. After deactivating the adhesive materials, the operator sanitizes the prosthesis and skin to ensure the medical adhesive adheres perfectly; if necessary, cutting and styling are also carried out.
For optimal maintenance we recommend repeating this every 3-4 weeks, just as you would visit a hairdresser.
