How to care for curly, super curly and afro hair: discover the new TEXTURED HAIR line

Curly and afro hair is wonderful, even though it can sometimes be tricky to manage and show off at its best. This is why CRLAB has come up with TEXTURED HAIR: a product line finally formulated to meet very specific needs. Let’s take a look at this new hair care routine in the name of hydration!

What are the characteristics of very curly hair?

Although strong and robust at first sight, afro or coily hair hides a thin, delicate structure, which makes it particularly prone to breakage and dehydration. For this reason, it is essential to treat it with the utmost care, to make it soft and enhance its unique texture.

There are different types of coily hair, which differ according to the type of curl

which can be very defined (similar to a tight coil), or bent into sharp Z-shaped angles. Some afros may also have a stringy-looking texture, similar to cotton, which is more difficult to manage as it is very fluffy, but lacks definition.

Afro hair is frizzy and dry due to lower sebum production and its generally porous nature, which is more prone to losing nourishment and moisture than other hair types.

Coily hair is also particularly elastic: its ability to “shrink” can be up to 75%!

Taking care of the most intense curls

CRLAB has developed TEXTURED HAIR: a full range of products with high detangling and moisturising power. To maintain beautiful, healthy-looking afro hair, it is essential to follow a targeted hair care routine, capable of giving volume, softness and shine to even the frizziest, driest hair.

1.

Afro hair care starts with the application of a pre-shampoo pack, to be distributed over the entire length of the hair. It is recommended to choose highly nourishing products, such as Detangling oil which counteracts the natural dryness of curls and helps maintain an optimal moisture level within the hair fibre.

2.

For the next step, moisturising shampoos with a purifying action, such as the Hydra Shampoo are the best choice. Tea Tree essential oil is particularly effective against impurities, while lavender oil deeply nourishes and regenerates the hair.

It is recommended to wash afro hair no more than once a week, alternating the shampoo with a creamier, more nourishing product, the co-wash, which cleanses and conditions the hair in one step. Deep & Co. 3 in 1 can be used as a conditioner, mask or co-wash according to your needs; it contains banana extract and avocado oil, with well-known detangling and revitalising properties.

3.

Conditioner is a true beauty ally, to be applied to the scalp and lengths to detangle the hair, preparing it for final styling. For a more intensive treatment, you can opt for a leave-in formula, such as the No-rinse conditioner, which improves the combability of the hair thanks to the presence of Pequì Oil, Aloe, and Bamboo proteins.

4.

Before drying, it is important to seal in moisture with a specific product, such as the Balancing Spray which combats frizz and gives volume and definition to the hair. It contains lavender hydrolate and jojoba oil, known for its moisturising and antioxidant properties.

There are numerous drying techniques, and the choice of the perfect one depends solely on your needs. Hairdryers and diffusers can be valuable allies, but it is also possible to dry afro hair naturally, especially in summer. One of the most popular methods is plopping, which is particularly suitable for curlier hair prone to frizz.

Your hair is unique, like you.
