- Dry scalp vs. oily dandruff: differences and remedies
Dandruff is an annoying disorder that affects about half the world’s population – particularly men – and is characterised by the presence of tiny flakes on the scalp and in the hair. These flakes consist of dead cell remnants that are shed faster than normal. Dandruff is often accompanied by itching, irritation and an unpleasant and unsightly ‘snow effect’ caused by the detachment of flakes after combing or scratching the scalp. This condition can cause embarrassment and discomfort, since dandruff is often associated with bad hygiene – but that is not exactly the case. At this point, the question arises: how to eliminate dandruff? Before finding out what dandruff remedies are available, it is necessary to understand the causes and make a distinction between dry scalp and oily dandruff. Depending on the type of disorder, the most appropriate treatment can then be applied to treat dandruff and keep the scalp healthy.
