WHO CHOSE US

At the age of 26, when she was living in Buenos Aires, Fernanda left a renowned clinic with a referral in hand. She was used to fighting, she had plenty of determination but the lines on that piece of paper spoke clearly and were capable of ripping even the strongest person to shreds: two brain tumours. One as big as a golf ball.

Determined not to give in, Fernanda underwent treatment and one of the two tumours was surgically removed, while the other was treated with an intensive combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. “I saved myself, psychologically – she tells us – because I had a sensitive man by my side”. Her boyfriend helped her, accompanied her along the long ordeal of intense and painful therapies.

Fernanda was able to get through it, but paid a high price: the total loss of her hair. And we know what this can mean for a woman.

“I was forced to distance myself from Argentina – she continues – due to the curious morbidity that surrounded each of my steps, each of my days”. An attention that became obsessive, widespread compassion made Fernanda leave her birth country, to find a remedy that would make her whole again as a woman and a person.

“I tried everything – she tells us – during these years, from wigs to the most disparate treatments. Not to mention all sorts of charlatans. When a man approached me I could immediately understand that he sensed my “diversity”. And I did not want to be pitied by an intelligent and compassionate man”.

The solution finally came in 2012. One evening, a friend told her about Cesare Ragazzi Laboratories: “Try it, I’ve heard good things about it. What do you have to lose?”.

Fernanda landed in Naples with her trust worn down to the thinnest level. Instead…: “Everyone was thoughtful – she describes – they were encouraging me, they ‘studied’ me like a case from a manual. But as friends would”.

After several sessions they had her try on the prosthetic designed specifically for her: “I could even gather them up to play tennis, my great passion. I felt like another person”.

An entire day passed and Fernanda found herself in front of the mirror, passing her hand through that real hair. It brought her back, from one day to the next, to the world of normal people. She sent a photo to Argentina to tell them about the momentous change in pictures: it was another Fernanda, a radiant look.

“I owe a lot to Cesare Ragazzi Laboratories. Honestly they changed my life, making it simpler, especially in my everyday life. What a joy it is to feel more confident about myself”.
